Charles Barkley Says The Trailblazers Will Be Going To Finals Instead Of Warriors

Despite injuries to CJ McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic, Charles Barkley predicts them to go all the way this postseason. Here is what he said in an interview with Brandon Robinson of Heavy.

“I like Portland in the [NBA] Finals,” Barkley told Robinson. “With [Damian] Lillard and [CJ] McCollum. The addition of Rodney Hood and Enes Kanter. I like them in the West.”

Barkley's support of Portland is no secret. He predicted the same thing back in March.

Technically, on paper, his prediction isn't all that outlandish. Portland is 4th in the West with a 48-28 record. Behind Lillard and McCollum, one of the best backcourt tandems in the NBA, they certainly have enough star power to be considered a threat.

But we have seen in seasons past that this team struggles to meet expectations in the postseason. Between the Warriors, Rockets, and Thunder, they might need more than just CJ and Dame. Nurkic being gone for the season does not help things, either.

All in all, to say Portland is an underdog in the West is an understatement. Unless you ask Charles Barkley...
