The Chinese want Adam Silver to suffer for his comments relating to Daryl Morey and his infamous anti-communist tweet.

On Friday, Silver said there was "no chance" the NBA would discipline Morey for his since-deleted tweet Friday after China reportedly requested his firing. Contrary to the report, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said that no such demand was made and that Silver stepped out of line by defaming China, supporting Morey and making false claims, according to the South China Morning Post.

To conclude, Chinese media have also warned Silver that he will "receive retribution sooner or later” for his actions. They have yet to elaborate on that statement.

“Silver has spared no effort to portray himself as a fighter for free speech and used freedom of speech as an excuse to cover for Morey, who voiced his support for the violent actors in Hong Kong,” CCTV said. “This has crossed the bottom line of the Chinese people."

“To please some American politicians, Silver has fabricated lies out of nothing and has sought to paint China as unforgiving.”

The ongoing crisis is expected to continue through the NBA season. Multiple Chinese outlets have suspended broadcasts and cut all ties to the NBA as the American community urges the NBA and their stars to speak out against China and their oppressive regime.

Tensions are high, and there is a lot at stake for the NBA and Adam Silver as he gets put in the crosshairs.
