Damian Lillard Wants The NBA To Give Carmelo Anthony Another Shot

Carmelo Anthony's NBA exile has been the talk of the town recently. After speculation that he might join Team USA this summer, there was hope that the 10x All-Star would find his way back on the pro-basketball court.

Unfortunately, not even Team USA showed enough interest to bring him on, and his NBA future has never been more in doubt.

In response to the pessimistic outlook, Portland star Damian Lillard showed his support by urging the league to give him another run.

The tweet speaks for itself, but does Melo really deserve an NBA comeback?

After being sent to Oklahoma City from New York, it became clear that Father Time had come for the former scoring champ. In 78 games for the Thunder, he averaged 16.2 points on an abysmal 40.4% shooting.

Then, in 10 games with the Rockets, he averaged 13.4 points on 40.5% shooting. He has yet to return to the floor since, in part because of his inefficient game and his stubborn state of mind.

Anthony is certainly capable of helping a franchise if he is willing to accept a bench role. As for the suggested "farewell season," that might be much more of a longshot.
