ESPN’s Top 100 Players list has stirred the pot in recent hours, with several fans going crazy by the fact that rookie Zion Williamson is better ranked than 3x NBA champion, 5x All-Star Klay Thompson.
If that wasn’t enough, he was placed above Klay, Kevin Love, and DeMar DeRozan among others.
As expected, this raised a lot of eyebrows from fans, analysts and even players. In fact, Portland Trail Blazers’ Damian Lillard was one player who didn’t hold anything back and called out the people in charge of making the controversial list.
NBA Buzz posted a picture on Instagram, noting that Zion was ranked higher than Klay Thompson, even though he hasn’t played a single game in the association. Lillard didn’t miss the chance to speak his mind on this topic.
“Man stop w the BS,” he wrote, before adding that “49 is wild in the first place.”
The NBA, and especially ESPN, is high on Zion. Seeing all the things the guy is expected to do in the league, that’s not a surprise, but rank him above several players who have had a very good career in the NBA is a little too much. Perhaps in the future, nobody will doubt that he deserves a better spot on these lists but now is not the moment.
