We could finally see the new-look Los Angeles Lakers on the floor on Saturday, and things couldn’t look any better for the Purple and Gold. LeBron James and Anthony Davis finally played together with the Californians, leaving great impressions after the game, in which they beat the Golden State Warriors 123-101.
The Lakers are seen as one of the biggest favorites to win the NBA title this upcoming season and we could see a sneak peek of what the rest of the league is going to face when they see the 16-time NBA champions.
Neither LeBron nor Davis played the second half of the game, but they still managed to post some good numbers. Davis finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds, while James registered 15 points and eight assists.
“AD’s AD,” James said afterward. “I thought he was great from the beginning of the game, just his offset on the offensive end just to be able to get us extra possessions with rebounding. Knocking down shots. I think he had like five dunks in the first half. And communication on the defensive end. He’s a very cerebral player. It was a good start for him.”
It’s normal and completely expected to see LeBron praising AD after the game, but James wasn’t the only one throwing flowers at the Brow. Moreover, the Warriors new acquisition D’Angelo Russell praised both James and Davis, making a bold comparison with the two players.
“It’s different seeing all those big guys on the floor at the same time,” Warriors guard D’Angelo Russell said, as per ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “LeBron playing point alongside those dudes. It’s cool. It looks like a fantasy team or something.”
To be fair, every NBA fan would be happy to count with the Brow and the King on their fantasy teams. These two are expected to do big things together next season, and D’Lo already saw what they’re cooking during the preseason opener.
