Just two summers after the Lakers gave D'Lo the boot, they went out and got LeBron James and Anthony Davis -- a powerful frontcourt tandem capable of instilling some real fear in the Western Conference.
But as Russell nears the end of his contract, he might find himself on a path that leads back to a reunion with the Purple and Gold.
It was reported earlier that the Lakers have a significant interest in bringing D'Angelo back next season. And, judging from this past video of Russ, he is obviously open to playing with LeBron and A.D. as well.
Russ would likely be a great fit for the Lakers. He could space the floor and play off-ball as LeBron or The Brow play under the rim. More than that, he is a young, skilled guard who is capable of exploding on offense. No doubt, no matter how good either superstar is, they will need another scorer to ease some of the pressure.
D'Angelo will be a restricted free agent this July, and the Lakers (Among other teams) will have their work cut out for them trying to negotiate a deal that the Nets will not match. The former Ohio State University star will turn 24 in February.
