Danny Green is one of the most decorated players in the league when it comes to NBA championships. Green is a 3-time NBA champion, tied for second with multiple stars when it comes to most championships among active players, only behind LeBron James with 4.
Green won his first championship against LeBron James and the Miami Heat, when he, Kawhi Leonard, and the San Antonio Spurs toppled the Heat. His second championship came 5 years later after he and Kawhi were traded to the Toronto Raptors.
With the Raptors, Green and Kawhi won another NBA title, this time beating the Golden State Warriors in 6 games to lift the trophy. During the offseason, Green joined the Los Angeles Lakers, teaming up with LeBron James and Anthony Davis as they made a run for their championship.
Green was successful, and won his 3rd NBA championship with the Lakers, playing big minutes during their playoff run and scoring some big buckets. The Lakers traded Green in the offseason to the 76ers, where he still plays as of today.
Last season, when the 76ers came to LA, Green was presented with his NBA championship ring from the Lakers, along with Dwight Howard who was also with the Lakers that year.
But Green never received his championship ring from Toronto, as the Lakers didn't travel to Toronto during the 2019-20 season because of the COVID-19 pandemic. And last season, the Raptors were forced to play in Tampa Bay due to the COVID protocols in Canada preventing them from playing home games there.
Green could and will likely receive his 2019 NBA championship ring from the Raptors this season, when the 76ers travel to Toronto on December 28th. If that does happen, it will mark 929 days since Green helped the Raptors win the NBA title before he eventually got his ring from the Raptors.
Green is hardly lacking when it comes to having championship rings, with 2 of his championship rings being in his possession. But the opportunity to be acknowledged by the Raptors franchise and fanbase for the work he did will be something Green will look forward to.
Danny Green will also be hoping to add a 4th championship ring to his resume, as the 76ers look to challenge for the title. But with the Ben Simmons situation hitting a brick wall, their status as championship contenders is still in the air.
