Dennis Schroder Could Get $55-60 Million After Turning Down $84M Offer From Lakers

Bleacher Report

Dennis Schroder’s market value has incredibly decreased after his 2020/21 NBA season with the Los Angeles Lakers. The German point guard entered the campaign hoping to help the purple and gold defend the NBA championship, but things went wrong for them.

After a season full of ups and downs, Schroder finished his first year with the Lakers receiving plenty of criticism for his inconsistency and his inability to help the team compete in the Western Conference.

Moreover, fans blasted him for rejecting a 4-year, $84 million offer from the team earlier this year. After his poor performances in the postseason, there’s no way Dennis will get that amount of money. Brad Botkin of CBS Sports predicts that the playmaker can make $55-$60 million in the 2021 NBA free agency.

Bottom line, if Schroder wants to come back to the Lakers, it likely will be for significantly less than the $84 million he could’ve had earlier this year. My guess would be something closer to $55-60 million. That’s somewhere around $25 million he could’ve potentially lost by rolling the dice. Betting on yourself doesn’t always pay off.

Things changed a lot for Schroder during the last weeks of competition. He struggled to help LeBron James succeed in the playoffs when Anthony Davis went down with an injury. Even Lakers fans grew unhappy with Dennis, and it’s hard to find somebody who actually wants him back with the team next year.
