After finding out the news that D'Angelo Russell would miss a few weeks with a sprained right thumb, Draymond Green kept his response short and sweet.
D'Lo was one of the last remaining star-caliber players for the Warriors this season. Klay Thompson has yet to play this season and is not expected to return until next fall after falling victim to a torn ACL in Game 6 of the NBA Finals. Steph Curry recently fractured his left hand and is due to miss several months as he recovers.
Prior to Russell, Green had an injury of his own. The former Defensive Player of the Year missed five straight games due to a torn ligament on his finger.
Russ and Draymond were the final two members of the core, and they were struggling to keep their team's head above water. The Dubs are an NBA-worst 2-11 and in the midst of a 6-game losing streak.
Russell's latest injury may be the final nail in the coffin of what was an already bleak season. The Warriors and Green especially are in uncharted waters.
It will be interesting to see if they are able to bounce back next season.
