Duncan Robinson is an important contributor for the Miami Heat but, apparently, not every fan knows his face.
In a recent episode of "The Longshot Pod," the young swingman told a story of the time he got roasted at a basketball clinic by a fan who failed to recognize him. Right there, in front of everyone, Robinson was completely roasted and it's something he still thinks about today:
"I guess everybody staying at the resort had gotten some sort of email about a clinic being held by NBA players. That was it, no names. And Moe, Marcus, and I were all eating dinner one night, kind of in the general area. And this guy comes up and he's like 'oh, Marcus Smart, you must be doing the clinic!' And Marcus goes 'nah, nah that's these guys.' And the guy looks at me and goes 'he doesn't hoop!' He goes 'he doesn't play basketball!' And I was just like alright if that's how you feel. He had no idea who I was. He had no idea who Moe was. And then he went on to say 'well at least is Evan Fournier gonna be there?' And Marcus was like 'Nah, it's just these two guys.' And he looks at us and goes 'pathetic.'"
That was an especially harsh interaction, but it's good that Robinson can laugh about it today.
All-in-all, it's been a successful campaign for both him and his team. The Heat are first in the East and in a good position to make a long playoff run. Robinson has been helping every step of the way with averages of 11.5 points, 3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game.
If he keeps it up, he'll make sure everybody knows who he is.
