Paul Pierce may have been a brilliant star in the NBA when he played but he has become a very controversial media figure after some very interesting comments. The most notable one that caused a surge of outrage from the public was when Paul Pierce declared that he was a better player than the recent retiree, Dwyane Wade.
"That’s easy, I can say that off the bat, that’s me,” Pierce said. "I’m 24 or 25 and you give me [LeBron James] and [Chris Bosh], I’d be sitting on five or six championships easy." Said Paul Pierce earlier in April on ESPN.
Wade has finally responded to Pierce’s comments and it was surprisingly extremely modest and respectful.
“I'm a high road kind of person ... I won't put another black man down." said Wade when he was spotted by TMZ Sports while he was with Gabrielle Union leaving the Blue Dog Beer Tavern in L.A.
"He's an amazing player. I have a lot of respect for him," D-Wade added -- "I'm gonna clap when he goes in the Hall of Fame."
It’s certainly a very classy response from Wade who played at three different NBA franchises, 15 of 16 seasons being played in Miami.
Thirteen All-Star appearances to go alongside three championships sums up a spectacular resume.
It’s fair to say that both players are absolute superstars of the game and both have ended their careers with incredible legacies.
