There is no doubt that Brandon Ingram has had a tremendous start to the season. With averages of 22 points, 7 rebounds, and 5.6 assists on 46.5% shooting, it's becoming clear that his All-Star performance last season was no fluke.
But is he really an MVP candidate? According to his teammate, Eric Bledsoe, that's exactly what he has been through the first few games of the season.
Obviously, one of the biggest factors for being an MVP is the overall performance of the team. Last season, the Pelicans were pretty average, failing to squeeze into the playoffs after earning a spot in the bubble.
So far in this campaign, they're 4-2, with wins against the Raptors (x2), Thunder, and Spurs.
B.I. has been a big player for them and his further development may be the edge they need to finally make some ground in the West.
As for MVP, that might be a bit of a stretch at this point. Compared to guys like LeBron James, James Harden, or even Damian Lillard, it's hard to see him winning. But, hey, if the Pelicans are able to play above expectations, and Ingram continues to ball-out, it could lead to some interesting results.
