We all make mistakes, right?
And during the prime-time of the NBA trade season, it's so easy to get caught up in the hype of the countless rumors, whispers, and reports. After Anthony Davis made his trade request public, ESPN reported an Instagram exchange between the two stars that probably crossed the line of tampering. Only, it was fake.
The reported "conversation" between the stars never actually happened, and ESPN mistakenly reported it as news anyway.
If this were a legit circumstance, the NBA would likely take action. This would just be too much for the league to let slip.
Even though it's fake, these exchanges are part of the reason why so many people are fed up with all these trade rumors.
As the future of Anthony Davis gets put up for grabs, teams will no doubt be scrambling to get their hands on him. The Lakers, no matter how far they're willing to go, will remain the favorites going forward, until we find out where the Pelicans are keen to send their disgruntled star.
