Extremely Emotional Moment When Derrick Rose Got Traded Mid Interview: "So I Talked With Phil Jackson, A Trade Is Gonna Happen To The Knicks."

Derrick Rose is the last great thing that happened to the Chicago Bulls. No disrespect to Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, or Jimmy Butler, but these guys couldn't have the same impact Rose had in Windy City during his early years in the NBA. Coming as a very promising young guard, Rose took over the Bulls, showing flashes of what he could do on the court.

In 2011, he had his best season in the league, winning the MVP trophy, becoming the youngest player to accomplish this. Even though things didn't go that well for Rose in the next couple of seasons, he really enchanted Bulls fans with his game, making a huge impact on the franchise and the city.

Everybody thought Rose would be around for a long time, but things worked differently for him. Back in 2016, the Bulls made a shocking decision, sending him to the New York Knicks, ending their tenure together.

Derrick Rose's Emotional Reaction To Getting Traded From Bulls

His documentary, called "Pooh: The Derrick Rose Story”, premiered in 2019, showing how he reacted to the news of his trade. At one point of the documentary, Rose was actually discussing trade rumors surrounding him.

“You do hear about trade rumors here and there, and this last one, the Knicks one was pretty big because it caught a lot of people’s attention,” Rose said. “I’m good with being in Chicago. We’re trying to win there, get back on the right track, so that’s the only thing I can think about. Being in Chicago, but I do hear the rumors. I never really thought about packing up and leaving or demanding a trade.”

He had to pause the interview a couple of times to answer his phone and one of them was his agent BJ Armstrong informing him of the deal. What you see next is Rose breaking down, tearing up, and asking Armstrong if he was serious about it. After a while, he returns to the interview, visibly affected by that call, trying to put his thoughts together.

"This fucked me up," Rose said while covering his face with his shirt. "I don't know how to feel right now. I'm anxious, but... Shocked. It shocked me. That sh*t made me who I am."

Rose was really shocked after hearing this, unable to process everything that had happened to him in just a few moments. He was the heart and soul of that Chicago Bulls team, their next great thing after Michael Jordan, and it was a complete shame that he couldn't fulfill his potential and show the world how great he could have been.

He was very hurt after this move, just like people in Chicago. He went to the Knicks and did his thing, then to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and now is back with the Knicks. Rose didn't have the spectacular career he might have had if it wasn't for injuries, but he's one of the most respected and beloved players in the league.

A return to Chicago has been discussed in recent times, and many people want to see that. Nothing has happened now, but many of us dream of seeing Rose with the Bulls again.
