Former Los Angeles Lakers Young Core Are On Fire This Season

Los Angeles Lakers are a great team right now, becoming a nightmare for the rest of the league with their good performances. The purple and gold have displayed a great game since last year, winning the NBA championship in the bubble for the first time in 10 years and now they're ready to continue their dominance.

A lot of things needed to happen for the Lakers to be in this position, including the arrival of Anthony Davis and the departure of a lot of young players that were expected to lead the future of the franchise. Now most players are spread across the league and truth be told, they are balling. The 2020/21 NBA season is still young but we've seen some players that have taken their game to the next level.

The former Lakers young core is doing a lot of good things now and one fan took to Twitter to break down the numbers that some of the players are having this campaign. Of course, there are some big names like Brandon Ingram, who reached the next level in New Orleans; D'Angelo Russell who is doing some interesting things in Minnesota and Julius Randle, who is filling the sheet stats for the surprising New York Knicks.

Brandon Ingram: 24.0 pts, 6.8 reb, 5.3 ast

D’Angelo Russell: 16.8 pts, 3.0 reb, 4.5 ast

Julius Randle: 21.2 pts, 10.5 reb, 7.2 ast

Lonzo Ball: 12.3 pts, 4.5 reb, 4.5 ast

Thomas Bryant: 17.9 pts, 6.7 reb, 1.7 ast

Larry Nance: 9.0 pts, 7.7 reb, 5.2 ast

Jordan Clarkson: 15.5 pts, 4.5 reb, 1.7 ast

Josh Hart: 9.0 pts, 8.2 reb, 0.8 ast

The reality is that all these players are doing pretty fine now. It's unclear if they would have reached this same level on the Lakers but it's good to know that some players that were labeled as 'bust' are proving the doubters wrong.

The Lakers have found success without them and even though some of these players could have been great on the current team, they are just fine with the group of players they have.
