Despite expressing nothing but happiness in his current location, Giannis Antetokounmp has yet to speak on his long-term future with the Bucks.
Following a rather crushing defeat in the Eastern Conference Semis, Milwaukee was left with far more questions than answers regarding their status as title contenders and just how much patience their star had left in the tank.
So far, the 2x MVP has yet to fully commit one way or the other beyond the 2020-21 campaign. All we know for certain is, that if he does hit free agency, the Miami Heat will be doing everything in their power to lure him to the franchise.
Milwaukee forward Giannis Antetokounmpo: Let there be no doubt: He remains the Heat’s No.1 target in 2021 free agency, and the Heat will do nothing to impede its ability to get him. ESPN’s Jalen Rose, in a whimsical segment, recently predicted that Antetokounmpo will join the Heat if the Bucks don’t make the 2021 NBA Finals.
Coming off a season in which he averaged 29 points, 13.6 rebounds, and 5.6 assists on 55% shooting, Antetokounmpo is projected to be the biggest prize of 2021 free agency. Giannis, 25, is still young, plays both sides of the ball extremely well, and has stayed healthy for the majority of his career.
Alongside Butler and Bam, the Heat would have a powerful trio of stars that would likely vault them as the favorites to win the Championship.
Unfortunately for Miami, we still don't know if the feeling is mutual -- but they've still got plenty of time to help him make up his mind...
While Antetokounmpo expressed respect for the Heat, there has been nothing tangible to suggest any specific interest in playing here, putting Miami on par with potentially Dallas, Toronto and a few others if he decides to leave Milwaukee.
