There’s been a great deal of talk this offseason about Jeremy Lin and how he hasn’t been able to find a team willing to select him for the 2020 season. However, Lin is the only well-known player who is looking for a franchise to play for, three-time Sixth Man of the Year winner Jamal Crawford remains as a free agent still available on the market.

NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas still strongly believes that Crawford can still play at the elite level despite his age of 39. Arenas is in the opinion that the Los Angeles Lakers would benefit highly by recruiting the 39-year-old guard.

“I hope he goes to a team like the Lakers,” says Arenas, via Landon Buford and Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson of

“They need your outside shooting.” Arenas continued. “They also need your creativity to provide more baskets and they need another guard. I feel Jamal Crawford in that type of situation would be great for both sides.”

Crawford is coming off a season with the Phoenix Suns where he did show some value averaging 7.9 points, 1.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 0.5 steals in 18.9 minutes per contest.

The Lakers are a potential championship contender for the upcoming season after they added Anthony Davis to the roster in a trade that sent multiple assets to the New Orleans Pelicans. Adding Crawford is an interesting idea for the Lakers, he may be the perfect player to come off the bench and have an impact.

The Lakers will likely be needing to choose between Crawford and Dwight Howard if they are indeed interested in signing the 39-year-old veteran. Either way, it’s certainly something to think about for the Lakers as every decision will be vital for the franchise.
