The Los Angeles Lakers are about to miss the playoffs for the sixth consecutive year and there may be no man who is happier about this than current Clippers player, Ivica Zubac.
Zubac was traded for the Lakers to the Clippers at the February trade deadline, at the time, the Lakers were still a chance of making the postseason. The irony now is that the Los Angeles Clippers and Zubac will be playing in the playoffs while the Lakers will be watching on from home.
Ivica Zubac has no intention to hide just how happy he is about the way things have turned out this year.
“A bunch of fans have come up to me and they say, ‘Why did we trade you? The Lakers front office did the biggest mistake,'” Zubac said Tuesday before the Clippers practiced at their training facility in Playa Vista, via Mirjam Swanson of the Southern California News Group.
“Everyone’s like, ‘We miss you.’ And I always say, ‘I’m on a better team now. You don’t have to be sad for me.’ And I always make sure to tell them, ‘Check our game out if you want to see good basketball.’ “
Zubac is clearly very happy about how the trade turned out while having no sympathy for the Lakers at all. Not long ago, the 22-year-old was struggling for minutes on the court as he battled to share time with teammate JaVale McGee on the Lakers. Now, he’s about to compete in his first ever playoffs series as the main Centre for the Clippers.
Ivica Zubac has played a total of 22 games with the Clippers where he has averaged 9.0 points and 7.5 rebounds along with shooting an impressive 53.2 percent from the field.
