Weeks have passed since the abysmal season for the Lakers. They followed up their failure to make the playoffs with a surprise resignation announcement from their disgruntled President.

But as they face a crucial summer of decision making, their mini-rebuild will have to start in the coaching ranks. Since the departure of Luke Walton, the team has been left in the dark to find a replacement. Tania Ganguli recently provided an update on that front, citing a new name amongst the list of candidates.

Jason Kidd is not considered a serious candidate, but he must be an option if he met with Pelinka and Rambis. So far, Monty Williams, Ty Lue, Juwan Howard, and now Jason Kidd have interviewed to be the Lakers head coach.

The race is believed to be between Lue and Williams. Clearly, the Lakers do not intend to rush the process, but they do not have forever to make up their minds. They will need to decide on a coach before pursuing free agents this July.
