As Luke Walton's coaching days likely draw to a close, the world will be keeping a watchful eye on who they could be bringing in to fill that gap. Already, names like Doc Rivers, Tyronn Lue, and Jason Kidd have been connected to the Lakers.
The latest name is, perhaps, the most the interesting.
Juwan Howard, a former teammate of James and current Miami Heat assistant coach, is a 4/1 favorite in Vegas to be the head coach in Los Angeles next year.
The key is for L.A. to find a guy that can speak to LeBron James. Get a guy too young or too easily manipulated, and it makes it easy for James and the rest of the team to walk all over him. As a former teammate fo LeBron, there might be a mutual respect there.
Miami has been a very stable environment, giving Howard quality experience in the coaching ranks already.
Whoever the Lakers choose, it is a decision they cannot afford to get wrong. After a miserable season that saw their locker room torn apart, they will need to assemble the pieces of a broken team. Hiring a coach that can relate and speak to the players is going to make things a whole lot easier.
