The rivalry between Joel Embiid and Karl-Anthony Towns goes deeper than the punches.

As two of the best centers in the game, it's fair to say they are battling for legacy as well. At least for now, Towns is winning that battle. This season, KAT is beating Embiid in every basic and advanced statistic. Towns is leading in points (26.5), rebounds (12.5), assists (4), steals (1.1), and blocks (1.5). Embiid, meanwhile, is averaging just 21.9 points, 12.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 0.9 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game.

Looking at advanced stats (via Basketball Reference.com), KAT is leading in VORP (1.5 to 0.5), BPM (9.7 to 2.9), and true shooting percentage (29 to 23.4 PER, 66 to 56).

Needless to say, Embiid has some work to do if he wants to be considered the best big man in the game.

For years, the two have dominated the league, and there is no argument about whether they are among the best. But is the Minnesota big man not getting enough attention for his performance this season?

Not only is he, statistically, the best big in basketball, but he is leading his team to a very respectable standing in the West. Right now, the Timberwolves are 7th in the conference with a 10-8 record.

This season, KAT is really putting the world on notice.
