With their second straight loss, the Los Angeles Lakers have now fallen to third in the West with a record of 14-6 through the first 20 games of the season.
And while it's far too soon for panic, some of the staunchest Lakers Nation supporters are beginning to call the team out for their lackluster effort this week. Kendrick Perkins became the latest, speaking up following L.A.'s head-scratching loss to the 5-14 Pistons.
“The Lakers look HORRIBLE and can anybody find out what the hell is going on with Dennis Schroder?!” Perkins tweeted.
The Lakers were held to just 34 points in the second half and ended up losing by 15 points (107-92).
Of course, criticism from the fans was abundant, especially against LeBron.
The fact that Bron couldn't get the win here, without Anthony Davis, is really helping to feed the narrative that Davis is L.A.'smost important player. It also hurts the "King's" MVP case as, clearly, this team is super dependant on the big man.
Regardless, though, it's far too early to draw up conclusions now. If the Lakers have earned anything over the past few years, it's that they deserve the benefit of the doubt. For now, there's no reason to jump of this bandwagon.
