Coming off a hugely disappointing season, the Milwaukee Bucks came into this campaign with a huge chip on their shoulder.

With Giannis Antetokounmpo locked-in for the next few years and Jrue Holiday providing some fresh new legs to the roster, optimism is high that Milwaukee will make amends for their failures.

Still, not everyone is convinced.

Following Milwaukee's defeat against the Lakers on Thursday, ESPN's Kendrick Perkins went on the record to share his doubts about the Bucks and their MVP:

"Lakers handled that business and they were unbothered in the process. The Bucks and the MVP/DPOY have a lot of work to do if they want to make it out the East and even think about contending for a title, they’re not there yet. Carry on."

Needless to say, Perk is a huge Lakers fan, so it's not all that surprising that he isn't hyping up Milwaukee.

Still, it goes to show that the Bucks still have a lot to prove if they want to earn the benefit of the doubt. For the third straight year, they are entering the season with high expectations -- if they don't meet them again, it could spell disaster for a franchise that is still just trying to be taken seriously in the East.

Before long, we'll see how accurate Perk is in his assessment of the team...
