With his Heat tenure likely coming to an end, the future of 28-year-old guard Dion Waiters has fallen under increasing levels of doubt. Multiple incidents have led to a series of suspensions by Miami, and reports indicate they are ready to move on from him completely.
Because of his previous injuries and his most recent string of issues, most teams agree that his days in the NBA are done.
But, in an appearance on former big man Kendrick Perkins, he seemed to suggest a partnership between the Lakers and the struggling young guard.
With thin depth in the backcourt, L.A. could benefit from a scoring, playmaking guard like Dion. As an iso-expert and rim-finisher, Waiters was a staple for the Heat before his downfall, averaging 14 points and 3.6 assists.
If there's anywhere he can resurrect his career, it's in Los Angeles, with LeBron James. He will get open looks, a chance to play for a Championship-level team, and will get to play a minimal role on a stacked roster. It will be interesting to see if the Lakers try to take a chance on the former Syracuse star.
