There has been a lot of speculation regarding Giannis Antetokounmpo's future. He's eligible to sign the largest contract in NBA history and will be under contract until the end of the 2021 season but whether he'll stay with the Milwaukee Bucks or not is yet to be seen.
Giannis has said that he wants to build a winning culture with the Bucks but we've seen players say these kinds of things and leave anyway countless times in the past. Moreover, if the Bucks aren't convinced about his commitment, they would be wise to try and move him.
That's why former NBA player turned analyst Kendrick Perkins took to "Tim & Sid" to say that Giannis should try and make a move to the Golden State Warriors rather than the Miami Heat, the team he's reportedly considering joining:
“Giannis is doing a great job of keeping it in the house. Nobody knows, everyone is just speculating, but my guess is, Milwaukee right now, they’re not focused on signing Giannis… They’re probably focused on making a trade,” Perkins said.
“If they can’t land anybody during the offseason, expect Giannis in this short offseason to get traded. If he wanna win now, if he wanna land a championship, his best destination is not Toronto, not Miami, it’s really the Warriors,” Perkins concluded.
Miami Heat, Toronto Raptors, and Golden State Warriors are all expected to make a run at the reigning MVP and Defensive Player of the Year and have plenty of assets to pull the trigger.
There's no denying that Giannis has the skills to turn any franchise into a contender right away, so if he decides to join a team with an already strong core like the Warriors, it would be tough to think of a team that could stop them in the playoffs.
