Kevin Durant's most controversial decision came when he joined the Golden State Warriors back in the summer of 2016. Back then, the Dubs were coming off a 73-win season and became just about unbeatable with Durant on the roster for the next three years.

Today, while his days with the Dubs are over, he recently spoke about how the journey to his move there started -- with a bit of wishful thinking and begging to his agent, Rich Kleiman.

“My agent, Rich Kleiman, we were watching Game 7. Well, as it started to unfold, it was, ‘No question, no way could you go to this team.’ And I was just like a kid, like, ‘I’d really like playing with these guys. I’d get wide-open threes, I could just run up and down the court, get wide-openlayups.’ I was basically begging him. I was like, ‘Yo, this would be nice.’

“I guess you could say I’m glad that they lost.”

In hindsight, it'd be impossible to chalk up Durant's three-year tenure with the Warriors as anything but a success. They went to three Finals in a row, won two of them, and dominated the league in a way no other team has before.

Whether or not he planned on his stay being short-lived or not. he's moved on to Brooklyn now, where he will look to forge a new identity -- one not intertwined with that of Steph Curry and the Warriors.
