Despite everything being on the line for Kevin Durant, all he'll be thinking about this summer is money.
“I am thinking about the money I’m going to get,” Durant told The Athletic. “I never got the (massive) deal. I’ve just seen a bunch of dudes around the league making so much money — and I’m happy for them.
"But I know I deserve that, too. That’s the only thing I’m probably thinking about, to be honest.”
That's right, Kevin Durant is looking for money. What that actually means for the future, though, is still kind of murky.
The Warriors might be able to work with that if they can shed some cap-space to offer him the super-max. Whether that's moving Draymond Green, or convincing Klay to take or major pay-cut, or pulling off some summer miracle, they'll have to give something back to save money for Durant.
But it also means KD could very well be headed somewhere else if, somehow, the Warriors couldn't afford to give KD the super-max. And in a place like New York or L.A., the revenue on endorsements alone might be enough to lure him in.
Either way, the upcoming decision is looking more and more like it might end somewhere not in Golden State.
