Kevin Durant will forever be on the firing line on social media for his infamous move to the Golden State Warriors. The latest installment came when a fan called him out for leaving the game in a worse shape than it was earlier, which led to Durant hilariously responding by asking the fan if he ruined the game.
The back and forth continued as KD can never resist clapping back, and another fan claimed that the equivalent of his move to Golden State would have been if Michael Jordan joined the Detroit Pistons after the 1990 playoffs. Durant had a somewhat clever response to that, too, as he thanked the fan for comparing him to Jordan.
While KD responded in that fashion, the fan does make a fair point there. Jordan had lost to the Pistons 3 years in a row in the playoffs after losing in 7 games in 1990, but instead of joining forces with them at any point, he kept coming back and eventually in 1991, swept them in the Conference Finals on his way to his first NBA championship.
Overcoming that adversity further added to his legacy and made those titles even more special, something that would have been the case for KD as well if he had helped the Thunder eventually overcome the Warriors. He instead decided to join the team that he failed to beat, even after having a 3-1 lead in that series, and there is no defending a move like that.
Durant, for his part, definitely doesn't think that he did anything wrong, and he isn't all that bothered by the backlash that is coming his way for requesting a trade from the Nets either. He added on Twitter that his legacy has never been stronger, and he probably believes that too, even if no one else does.
