Kevin Durant Says Problem With Draymond Green Won't Affect His Free Agency Decision

Draymond Green, Kevin Durant NBA 31312

The main reason Draymond Green was suspended by the Warriors without pay earlier this season was that he went after Kevin Durant about Durant’s upcoming free agency. Durant only signed a short deal with the Warriors to keep his options open and he could very well leave the Warriors next summer if he chooses.

Draymond Green, being the hot-headed, passionate player that he is obviously taking to heart any sign that Durant could leave the Warriors and hence why he went for Durant and was suspended.

This confrontation along with Steph Curry sidelined due to injury was why the Warriors have been suffering of late. They’ve lost 4 out of their last 5 games and need to turn things around now to rebuild the chemistry that won them the last 2 NBA titles.

This reconstruction of the Warriors appears to have already started as Durant came out and said that he’s all good with Draymond Green now and that the incident won’t affect Durant’s decision on where he plays next season.

“Nah, [it won’t factor],” Kevin Durant told Yahoo Sports. “Because at the end of the day, I’m just a ballplayer that’s just trying to be in a great environment to play basketball and groom my skills every day. And I want to compete on a level that once the game starts, I’m just totally comfortable with my surroundings, with just going out there and being me.”

“I never really felt like it was a problem, because I know Dray and he says some crazy [expletive] out his mouth all the time,” Durant told Yahoo Sports. “But on top of that, it was just that there was so much coming with it from the outside, and so much stuff that we have to answer now.”

"I was upset, but I know that I can't hold on to something like this. I know that I've got to make a choice with myself, like how long are you going to be upset about this to the point where you're going to let it affect what you do on the floor or how you approach the game? Once it gets there now, I got to make a grown-man decision and tell myself, 'Look, man, no matter what, you still got to come to work every single day. It's going to work out. It's going to figure itself out.' And I think everyone's been handling it the best way they could and we're just trying to move forward with it."

It’s likely that the 2 players have talked things through and that both guys have apologized to each other. They both know that they have a once in a lifetime shot are three-peating and they need to work together in order for that to happen.
