The Toronto Raptors were crowned NBA Champions this past June, overthrowing the Golden State Warriors.
Unfortunately, the victory did not come without controversy. The series went to 6 games, and injuries were a major player throughout the entire series. Kevin Durant missed all but a game, and Klay Thompson busted his knee at the top of the final match.
Needless to say, the string of injuries cast doubt on the outcome, and some are of the mindset that things would have changed had Durant and others been healthy.
Of course, the Durantula himself counts himself among that crowd.
In an appearance on Serge Ibaka's well-known talk show, KD admitted that he believed the Warriors would have won had he been able to play. Of course, the Raptors big man disagreed...
Things have changed for both teams since, and they have clearly moved on from the past. Durant and others have left the Dubs, leaving the team to re-create themselves in light of the changes.
Toronto lost its franchise star Kahwi Leonard, and have to now figure out how to move forward with the pieces that remain.
Still, it's interesting to think what might have happened had Durant been healthy and playing in the Finals this past summer. It's a question that is no doubt lingering in many people's minds.
