Klay Thompson Says Warriors Would Have Won The Finals Had They Been Fully Healthy

Over the past 5 seasons, the Warriors have put together a historically successful run. But, like all good things, it had to come to an end.

This summer, the Warriors not only lost important core players in Kevin Durant, Andre Iguodala, and others, they also lost Klay Thompson, who will spend most of this next year working his way back from a torn ACL. The injury will cost them much of their offensive dominance. In fact, injuries may have cost them their most recent Championship.

According to Thompson himself, the Dubs would have won it all this summer if the team had been fully healthy.

"In my mind, yes, we would’ve won if I didn’t get hurt," Klay said in a piece published by The Athletic's Marcus Thompson. “But that’s just the nature of sports, you know? What-ifs? It doesn’t matter. It’s if you do your deed or not. In my mind, I think we would’ve. But you never know. That’s the hard part you’ve got to accept."

"I look at all the guys who had bad luck getting injured against us the last few years, and I’ve honestly become so much more sympathetic. Yeah. That’s just the nature of the beast.”

Ultimately, we'll never know if Thompson is right. The injuries to Klay and Durant certainly did not help their case. And even with those injuries, they took the series to 6 games.

But, with Kawhi, Kyle Lowry, Marc Gasol, and the crew, the Raptors were nothing to joke about either. They earned that Championship, even if the Warrior's misfortunes made it easier.

Regardless, it will always be one of those unanswered questions.
