Knicks Could Be 'Backup Plan' For Anthony Davis If Lakers Become A Disaster

Before the season has even begun, there are rumblings that Anthony Davis will consider wearing another jersey next summer.

Just a few months ago, Davis basically demanded a trade to the Lakers from the Pelicans, eventually forcing their hand in the summer for a haul of young picks and players. But even with as promising as things look now for AD and the Lakers, it is important to remember that they were not the only team on his list of desirable destinations.

He also named the New York Knicks, and one report is claiming that they aren't entirely out of the chase just yet.

According to Marc Berman of The New York Post, the Knicks could be an option for Davis if things turn sour in Laker Nation.

The 2020 free-agent pool is short on stars, but they could be one of the favorites for big fish Anthony Davis if the Lakers implode. Rich Paul, Davis’ agent, likes the idea of his client in New York, according to a source.

If you're a Knicks fan, you're probably taking all of this with a grain of salt. After all, the team was supposedly in the running for Kyrie, Kawhi, DeMarcus, and Kevin Durant this summer until they missed out on all of them.

This bit with Davis could be different in that he seems to be keeping his options open. Truth be told, he has given no indication that he intends to re-sign with the Lakers next summer. If the Knicks were on his original list back in February, who is to say they won't be again when it is time to choose in July 2020?
