Anthony Davis' return to New Orleans went as expected. The Lakers came away with the win, the stars shined, and former Pelican AD received heavy boos from the crowd.
And while it's understandable why the fans there might have some animosity towards their former star, Kyle Kuzma suggested they direct their frustration elsewhere:
In the midst of a hostile crowd, Davis poured in 41 points, 9 rebounds, and a game-saving steal to close the game. The performance helped L.A. seal their 9th straight win.
As for the Pelicans, they've been unable to achieve success without Davis. An early injury to Zion Williamson derailed their season, and the players have not yet found their groove. They are 6-12 -- good enough for 12th in the West.
Last season, AD requested a trade after years of losing seasons with the franchise. He was forced to play out the rest of the season before he was ultimately traded to the Lakers.
Under the circumstances, it certainly makes sense why the fans would be so negative towards Davis. But perhaps they should point the finger of blame at their own front-office, who failed to put the necessary pieces around their star.
