The speculation, whispers, and rumors about Kyrie Irving's divorce with the Celtics is finally coming to fruition. After two roller coaster seasons in Boston, the 6x All-Star is going to hit free agency.
This was the expected response by mostly everyone around the league. Kyrie's previous long-term commitment to Boston was abandoned after their most recent season. Aside from the obvious failures, the Celtics were never on Irving's original preferred destination list when he requested a trade from the Cavs.
The Celtics took a chance trading for him and will ultimately have to pay the price when he likely signs elsewhere in July.
His next step is a little more of a mystery. The Nets, Clippers, Knicks, and Lakers have been named as possible contenders -- but there is no telling what kinds of things will factor into his upcoming decision. In fact, as far as the future of Kyrie Irving goes, we only know that it will likely not involve the Boston Celtics.
