Kyrie Irving has starred in many controversies during his career, and this season hasn't been the exception. Unless you live under a rock, you must know that the Brooklyn Nets player has been separated from the team given his refusal to take the COVID-19 vaccine.
Before that, he was involved in another controversy when he promised Boston Celtics fans he would re-sign with them only to head to Brooklyn and join Kevin Durant in the summer of 2019. But, way before that, Kyrie was making noise on the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, that controversy happened off the court, involving Irving and two girls, as well as his then-wife.
Many years ago, Kyrie posted a picture of himself with two attractive girls sitting on his lap. He looked in great spirits, seemingly having a lot of fun. Yet, the fun was over when Kyrie blamed it on the internet and said he didn't post the pic. This picture had big consequences for Kyrie, who was married to Natalia Garibotto at the time, and his wife obviously saw the picture.
The player said he didn't post the pic and apologized to everybody who saw it, especially to his wife.
Still, Natalia wasn't having any of that and made it clear she was done with Kyrie. In a series of tweets, she wished Kyrie good luck, calling him out for using his money and fame to get girls when he's married.
Kyrie dated more people after that, including singer Kehlani. Right now, Kyrie is engaged to Marlene Wilkerson, with whom he had a baby born in August.
Meanwhile, Irving is working to get back to the court a couple of months after the Nets stated they wouldn't allow him to be a part-time player. Steve Nash gave a crucial update on his status, saying that Kyrie could be back in a couple of weeks.
“It's hard to say, but I would say probably somewhere between a week and two weeks. He’s obviously been isolating so that kind of puts another layer to the ramp-up. It’s not like he’s been working out so probably I’d imagine it’s going to be closer to two weeks once he comes out of protocols. We’ll just have to see how it goes, though, because we have to evaluate him from a physical and performance standpoint and a basketball standpoint as well.”
After a tumultuous 2021, Irving is ready to return to the court and help his team boost their title chances. The point guard is a key figure in the Nets' aspirations this season. Even though they've been doing fine without him on the lineup, Irving's presence will bring a lot of good things for the New Yorkers. If they were dangerous before, it's time to buckle up for the rest of the East now, as a fresh Kyrie is coming back to the hardwood.
