With their failed partnership now a thing of the past, Boston Celtics fans were amped up for Kyrie Irving’s return on Thursday night.
Unfortunately for them, Irving never actually made an appearance during the game, as he was ruled out due to injury. But that didn't stop them from making their voices heard. They were loud, they were rowdy, and there were strong boos directed toward their former point guard.
Perhaps even more interesting than the fan behavior in Boston last night was the response by Irving himself, who took to Instagram to send a rather long and cryptic message.
In his long, seemingly neverending rant, Uncle Drew basically says that basketball is just a game and that the "negativity" that comes with it is just a blimp in the overall scheme of life.
While those points are technically true, the man is getting paid millions to be a part of the same system he seems to hate so much. Like it or not, he has to deal with the consequences of his actions.
Things didn't work out in Boston, and that's okay. In Brooklyn, he is hoping to open some eyes to a new perspective on the sport and the world in general. To do that, though, he will have to come to grips with his past and face whatever resulted from his choices.
