Kyrie Irving will not be opting into his one-year player option with the Boston Celtics. In fact, he seems to be embracing his new-found freedom. In the wake of his upcoming free agency, Kyrie Irving posted a strange and cryptic Instagram message that nobody can seem to figure out.

The caption, in which he quotes Mother Terese, is a segment about staying true to yourself:

"People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway. If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway. What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway. Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway. In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway. -Mother Teresa"

Kyrie's free agency has been one of the bigger mysteries around the association. While his divorce with the Celtics is all but guaranteed, there have been a number of teams reportedly in contention for his services, including the Nets, Lakers, and Knicks.

But no matter where he elects to sign this summer, we know this: his decision will be for nobody but himself. He will go to the place that he feels the most comfortable, not for the money or for a legacy., and surely not for the limelight.

For the first time in years, he can control his own destiny. We can expect for him not to take that for granted.
