According to what a source told ESPN's Stephen A Smith, Kyrie Irving will grant the Lakers a meeting this summer, when the star point guard is due to become an unrestricted free agent.

"I'm told Kyrie Irving will grant the Lakers an interview. The Lakers will have an opportunity to get Kyrie Irving to come to LA."

In the segment, Stephen A points out an interesting dynamic if the possible Kyrie/L.A. meeting. If Kyrie is willing to give Magic and his team consideration, even though LeBron James is locked in for the next three years, it must mean Kyrie Irving has changed his own feelings about LeBron.

Remember, part of the reason why Kyrie wanted out of Cleveland was to get out from the shadow of the king and lead his own team somewhere else.

It has been reported that the two have been in contact this past season and even involved an apology from the Boston guard to his former teammate in regards to how hard it must have been to lead Cleveland to the Finals all those years.

At the very least, this latest report confirms that the level of animosity between LeBron and Kyrie must have evaporated somewhat this past season. Whether or not it will be enough to secure him in Los Angeles, however, is another story entirely.

Kyrie has long had a connection to the Knicks, and it has been rumored that he and Durant are set to sign there come July 1st. From everything we have heard, that appears the most likely scenario.

Still, the fact that he will grant the Lakers a meeting is the first dose of good news they have gotten all year long.
