LaMelo Ball has had a great tenure in the NBL, making a lot of people turn their heads to him and start taking this guy as a serious candidate to be the first overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft. Of course, things can change once the NCAA basketball season starts, but there is no doubt that LaMelo’s stocks are really high right now.
Moreover, according to Adam Zagoria of Forbes, executives from the Portland Trail Blazers, Brooklyn Nets, New Orleans Pelicans and Toronto Raptors have reached out to Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio, where Ball played during his senior year of high school, to get more information on the youngest Ball brother.
Out of all those teams, the Cleveland Cavaliers appear like the most likely to land Ball next year. They’re currently going through a rebuilding process and landing this good prospect could be very helpful.
Following the Cavs, the second-worst team where LaMelo could play next season are the New Orleans Pelicans, but the Pelicans are actually a good and entertaining team that counts with the likes of Zion Williamson and LaMelo’s brother, Lonzo.
He’s currently projected by ESPN as the No. 3 pick in 2020 behind Memphis freshman center James Wiseman and Georgia freshman shooting guard Anthony Edwards.
We still don’t know which team he’s going to be joining next year. The only certain thing right now is that he’s playing in the NBA next season.
