The youngest member of the Ball brothers, LaMelo, has one year to go through before being able to enter the NBA draft next one. Albeit his father is not as relevant as he was a couple of seasons ago, LaMelo and his brothers, especially Lonzo, are still a topic to discuss in the NBA world.
As we said, the youngest, LaMelo, has only one year before being eligible for the NBA draft and everything points out that he will spend this time playing abroad, again. According to Ian Pierno of SLAM Magazine and reporter Adam Zagoria, LaMelo is likely to play in Australia or China next season in order to prepare for the 2020 draft.
A source has told Zagoria that one of the mentioned countries will be Ball’s new destination “unless somehow the NCAA makes a new rule where he could play in college.” This is as unlikely as the Pelicans trading their first overall pick for the upcoming draft, as LaMelo already has his own shoe and already competed overseas in Lithuania alongside his big brother LiAngelo.
Obviously, the kid is trying to find ways and opportunities to play before the 2020 edition of the NBA draft and these two leagues could be extremely helpful for him. The Balls have a history in China, so if he goes there, he would only have to worry about having a better time and behavior than his brother LiAngelo had back in 2017.
