One of the victims of the Anthony Davis trade was former UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball, who was sent to New Orleans in the package for Anthony Davis.
Although Lonzo is likely to thrive in NOLA and the pieces they have, he and his family have seemingly enjoyed the L.A. life, with his Dad LaVar even going as far as to basically beg the Lakers to draft him coming out of college.
Now, in the aftermath of the trade, LaVar is back -- this time, with a different message for the Lakers:
He does not sound pleased, and he probably shouldn't be. After his son Lonzo gave everything to the franchise, they turn around and send him to the Pelicans after just two seasons with the team.
But if you are the Lakers, was there really another choice? LeBron James demands a certain level of urgency from them. The roster as they had it last season was clearly not enough -- they had to bring a star. Anthony Davis was that star and Lonzo was the price.
It will be interesting to see if LaVar will be up to his usual antics in New Orleans.
