LeBron James Gives Zion Williamson Very High Praise

Zion Williamson

In a lot of ways, Zion WIlliamson is very comparible to a young LeBron James.

At Duke, Williamson is getting national coverage. His following and audience are higher than most pros, and all eyes are on him to see if he can dominate in the same way at the next level.

LeBron sees these comparisons and recently talked about the topic in a chat with ESPN.

"What strikes me? His agility and his quickness," James said. "For his size, how strong he is, to be able to move like the way he moves, he's very impressive. I mean, everybody can see the athleticism. That's obviously, that's ridiculous. But the speed and the quickness that he moves [with] at that size is very impressive."

He sees a lot of himself in Zion.

"I can relate in a sense of he's been covered since he was in high school and everybody is trying to compare him to the next this or the next that. But the best thing I've noticed is he seems like a good kid. He seems like he's got his head on straight," James said. "And when they asked him about, you know, guys in our league and people who cover our league talking about, 'If I was Zion Williamson, I would sit out for the rest of the year,' he was like, 'That's [silly]. Why? I'm here to play basketball. I love to play basketball. I'm here at Duke, I'm having fun. These are my friends. I'm having a great time. Why would I sit out?'

At 34-years-old, LeBron's time at the top is going to come to an end pretty soon. And while the NBA has plenty of players capable of taking that mantle, a lot think Zion will be the guy to do it, simply because we haven't seen anyone quite like him.

At 6'7", 285 pounds, he's averaging 22 points and 9 rebounds for the year on an incredible 68% shooting.

He's a physical freak of nature with all the natural talent to make a legacy for himself in the NBA. And, just like LeBron, he'll be entering a league that is already all too familiar with his name.
