LeBron James And Chris Paul Could Lead The NBA In Scoring And Assists For The First Time In 14 Years

LeBron James and Chris Paul are the biggest sample of longevity in the NBA right now. We've seen players like Vince Carter and Carmelo Anthony still be helpful for their teams after turning 35, but they didn't lead squads after hitting that age, which is the case for James and Paul.

They have played for several teams around the league, always making them better, and there's no doubt they will retire as two of the greatest to ever do it. This season, LeBron is carrying the Lakers while Chris Paul is exceeding what he did last campaign with the Phoenix Suns.

LeBron recently turned 37 and CP3 is 36, but that doesn't mean they're slowing down. In fact, they could repeat a historic feat if LeBron keeps the good pace as a scorer and Paul keeps giving away assists like they're candy. With 14 years of difference, James and Paul could finish the season as points and assists leaders again

Right now, James is averaging 28.6 points per game, enough to rank 2nd in that item behind long-time nemesis Kevin Durant (29.8 PPG). KD has been on another level this season, but Bron has carried the Lakers with his scoring, which could open the door for him to top this list.

Paul also ranks 2nd in the assists list this season, trailing James Harden on the list. Right now, Harden averages 9.9 assists per game, only 0.1 assists more than Paul. He apparently has an easier chance to overcome Harden than LeBron to do it with KD, which could be incredible for any player.

In the 2007/08 NBA season, LeBron James won his only scoring title averaging 30.0 points per game after leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to NBA Finals the past campaign. Paul, who played with the New Orleans Hornets at the time, led the league in assists per game with 11.6.

This could happen again to confirm these two are in a league of their own. James is looking to win his 5th championship, while CP3 is still trying to win his first ring. Perhaps they clash again in the playoffs this season and seeing their respective positions right now, that's very likely.

They are best friends and the similarities between them are too big. It would be incredible to see Bron and CP3 winning these titles and then battle it out in the postseason.
