LeBron James hasn’t had quite the impact on the Los Angeles Lakers that many were expecting with the team in danger to miss the playoffs completely.
However, no matter what happens for LeBron this season, the legacy he has created will not be tarnished whatsoever. At least that is what NBA Hall of Famer, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar believes. This week, the Lakers legend wrote about LeBron James in a cover story for Newsweek where he claimed that James is even bigger than debates over who the GOAT is. Kareem labeled the four-time NBA MVP as a ‘Hero of our time’.
Kareem has followed LeBron’s career closely and now that he has joined L.A, the respect between the two has only grown. To have someone of Kareem’s stature and legendary status to speak so highly about him was something that truly meant a lot to LeBron. James acknowledged the honor by going online and retweeting Kareem’s work and adding a touching message.
No matter what team you barrack for, it’s sure nice to see two legends of the game have such nice words and respect for each other.
As the second half of the 2019 season begins, the Lakers will need to step it up a couple of gears if they are planning to be there in the postseason let alone make an impact there. Lakers fans haven’t seen their side in the playoffs for five seasons now so they’ll sure be hoping for a massive lift from the team.
