LeBron James Is The Only One Who Beat The Boston Celtics When They Led 2-0 In A Best Of-7-Playoff Series: Celtics Have A 40-1 Record Right Now

3 Min Read

The Boston Celtics didn’t have the best of starts to the 2021-22 NBA season. They struggled to win games early on and many even wrote them off from being a competitor to win the title this season.

But in the second half of the season, the Celtics were very consistent and won game after game to finish the season with a record of 51-31 in the Eastern Conference. The record was enough for the Celtics to clinch the second seed in the East.

Now with the playoffs underway, the Celtics have continued their phenomenal form. When they were matched against the Brooklyn Nets, many thought it is a mismatch for the team. After all, the Nets might be the 7th seed in the East but they have the likes of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving on the roster.

On paper, it might feel like the Nets are stronger, but the reality has been very different. So far, the Celtics lead the series 3-0. Now, there is still a chance for the Nets to make a comeback, but a recent stat shared by a fan on Reddit definitely doesn’t favor the Nets.

According to the post, in a best-of-7 series scenario, the Celtics have a record of 40-1 when they are leading the series 2-0. This is definitely an amazing record to have and one that fans Brooklyn Nets fans won’t like.

As the Redditor asked in his post, you might wonder which the sole series that the Celtics lost? Well, it was at the hands of none other than LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers back during the 2018 NBA playoffs.

That year James was a different beast. In fact, to this day most believe that LeBron James not winning the MVP that year was one of the biggest robberies in NBA history. Additionally, when it came to the playoffs, James almost single-handedly carried the Cavs to the NBA Finals.

So at the end of the day, it is not a surprise that it was a LeBron James-led team that gave the Celtics a loss in the 2018 Eastern Conference Finals after going 2-0.
