Here we go -- weeks before the start of NBA free agency, it seems LeBron James and Anthony Davis were caught having dinner at Nobu in Malibu, according to one Reddit user. Russell Westbrook may have also been involved.
Players of their caliber getting together for dinner does not exactly mean anything in terms of basketball and is not prohibited by any stretch. But considering the situation both players find themselves in, it's hard to imagine basketball was not a topic amongst their Malibu-dinner.
When Davis made it know he wanted a trade from the Pelicans, he listed the Lakers as his preferred destination. He will become a free agent in the summer of 2020, but will likely be moved before August to the team with the best offer. LeBron James, meanwhile, is trying to get another star in Los Angeles, to redeem what was an abysmal season for him and the Lakers.
It's only a matter of time before the free agency dominoes fall into place. And though we'll never know what conversation took place that night, we know that their futures will inevitably cross paths one way or another before it is all said and done.
