Lonzo Ball Purposefully Leaked Knee Injury So Lakers Couldn't Trade Him

Lonzo Ball and his camp may be doing everything they can to keep him at the Lakers as the franchise looks to compete as the biggest threat to the Warriors in the Western Conference.

There had previously been plenty of rumors and talk that the Lakers guard could possibly be traded until it was confirmed that Ball was still recovering from a Knee injury.

Last week, NBA Insider for Yahoo Sports, Shams Charania, revealed that Lonzo Ball had a torn meniscus in his left knee.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski revealed during SportsCentre that the Lakers believe that individuals within Ball’s camp may have leaked the news about Ball’s knee to prevent him from being traded.

“There is a belief around the Lakers that it was within his [Lonzo Ball] world that it got leaked out there to keep him from being traded. He doesn’t want to be traded from Los Angeles. It wasn’t the Lakers who wanted information on that knee injury. There were a lot of teams that were checking on possible deals with the Lakers, and they had a lot of questions about that knee.”

Part of the trade rumors included a deal with San Antonio for disgruntled star Kawhi Leonard, who they believed at the time could help bring LeBron James across to L.A. Even though the Spurs aren’t too interested in the Lakers young guard, his name still managed to come up. With the speculation of Lonzo Ball’s injury, it’s much less likely to see a trade being made with the Spurs already having no real interest in Ball.

Lonzo Ball is reportable stoked to have LeBron James join the Los Angeles Lakers giving the team a genuine chance to win the first championship since 2010.
