More often than not people underestimate NBA players. They make everything look so easy that some fans actually think they could also play at the highest level if given the chance. Spoiler alert: no, man, you couldn't score on an NBA player, and you couldn't guard him either.
We're not even talking about superstars. We're talking about end-of-the-bench kind of guys. 2 minutes per game kind of guys. Hell, I highly doubt most people could even guard a G-League player, and that's by no means disrespect to the G-League.
The point is that NBA players are the finest of the finest. The best among the best. There's a 0.00000000001% chance of making it to the NBA, so odds are they're drastically better than the average joe.
However, it seems like Maverick Carter isn't that sold on that idea, as went as far as to claim that he could give Stephen Curry trouble because the 2-times MVP isn't a good defender:
“The world knows Steph can't f--king play defense. I'm 38 and haven't played a decent game of basketball in 18 years. Steph would have trouble guarding me," the businessman claimed on Uninterrupted.

Obviously, this is a major reach by Carter to try and make a point. Curry is not the best defender in the league. He's not even close, we get that. Steph isn't known for his defensive commitment or physical play, but by no means is Maverick Carter scoring one single bucket with him squaring up on D.
Curry led the league in steals in 2015-16 and averages 1.7 steals per game over his career. He's got quick hands, great reads, and is a freaking NBA player for God's sake. So no, Maverick Carter, there's no chance on earth you, me, or most of your acquaintances could give Steph some trouble in the defensive end.
