Stephen Curry is widely regarded as the best point guard in the league currently, as well as the greatest shooter of all time. He is a two-time MVP and three-time champion, and there’s no doubt that his emergence has changed the game of basketball itself. Stephen Curry has been spectacular in the playoffs thus far, averaging 28.0 PPG, 3.4 RPG, and 5.4 APG.

The Golden State Warriors handled the Denver Nuggets with relative ease during their series, winning in 5 games. Many view them as one of the top contenders for the NBA title this season.

Recently, Max Kellerman has stated that there’s a lot on the line for Stephen Curry these playoffs. He stated that his legacy wouldn’t necessarily be tarnished if he lost, but would absolutely be “enhanced” if the Warriors win a championship and Stephen Curry gets Finals MVP.

Listen, Steph Curry is playing on a team where Klay is coming off a catastrophic injury, he’s getting older, Dray’s getting older. Steph’s coming off an injury. KD’s not there anymore.

What there seems to be to me, a lot on the line for Steph and his legacy… When I say that, I think of both outcomes. If he doesn’t get it done, is his legacy going to get worse? No… but now compare it to what he does. What if the Warriors go all the way this year, and Steph wins Finals MVP. It gets enhanced. It does. There’s a lot on the line.

There is no doubt that Stephen Curry getting a Finals MVP and another championship would improve how he is viewed in the eyes of many people. He is often ranked below other elite players due to his lack of a Finals MVP, and the perception that he was the 2nd best player on the Warriors during the time that Kevin Durant was there. That would change if he were to get his first Finals MVP award.

It remains to be seen how far the Golden State Warriors will end up going this season. Warriors forward Draymond Green has previously proclaimed that they will win the championship this season, so we’ll see if that prediction becomes a reality as we go through the playoffs.
