When it comes to the GOAT conversation, it is widely recognized as a two-horse race between Michael Jordan and LeBron James. For many, in terms of talent and accolades, there is nobody that can compete.
But for ex-Lakers star Metta World Peace (AKA Ron Artest), his GOAT isn't LeBron or Mike. It's Wilt Chamberlain.
No doubt, Wilt was an absolutely dominant player on the basketball court. For his career, averaged 30.1 points, 22.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game on 54% shooting. He's the only player to average 50 points in a season, over 25 rebounds in one season, and the only one to score 100 points in a single game.
He's also a 13x All-Star, 4x MVP, 7x scoring champ, and 10x All-NBA player.
The biggest knock on Wilt, however, is the fact that he's only won 2 NBA Championships in an era where the game was still being developed. Truth be told, the talent level back then isn't nearly what it is now.
So while there are reasons to hesitate putting Wilt anywhere near the MJ and LeBron, the case can certainly be made that he belongs in the conversation -- at the very least.
